Our Story

TaylorMade Tutoring was started by Marlane Taylor, a former educator from Pittsburgh, Pa.  Ms. Taylor has more than 30 yrs. of experience teaching children. In addition, Ms. Taylor worked as a scoring director for The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, overseeing teacher certification scoring sites all over the country for 10 yrs. In recent years, after retiring and moving to McKinney, TX., Ms Taylor became a well respected and sought after substitute teacher for McKinney ISD.

Ms. Taylor holds a B.S. in Family and Consumer Science, an advanced certification in Early Childhood Education and an M. Ed. in Curriculum Development and Supervision.  Through the years, Ms. Taylor has enjoyed tutoring her grandchildren and has decided to expand that experience by starting TaylorMade Tutoring.

The Approach

Our Educational Philosophy

Early Childhood tutoring helps build foundational skills that prepare Pre-K-5th grade students  to be successful in school. Tutoring young children helps build confidence and helps establish good study habits as they progress through school. Starting school can be both exciting and scary to a young child, and the more they understand about what to expect, and how learning can be fun, the more self-assured they will be.

How long is a basic tutoring session?

We recommend a minimum of 60 minutes to maximize your child’s academic success.

How long before I can expect to see improvement?

We are confident that our teaching methods will result in significant improvement within the first few months of consistent tutoring.

Where will the tutoring sessions be held?

All tutoring sessions will be held at Ms. Taylor’s dedicated tutoring space in her home in McKinney.

How many sessions per week is ideal to see improvement?

While once a week is acceptable,  our experience has demonstrated that twice a week is preferred. This frequency adds to  reinforcing the concepts and enhancing student performance.
